The short version
Pethium only collects the information needed to ship your order, answer your emails, and improve our store. We don't sell your data. We only share it with the partners required to deliver your order — payment processor, carrier, email service. When this policy says "we," it means Pethium, the small team behind the brand.
Overview
This privacy policy describes how Pethium (the "Site", "we", "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit our store at pethium.com, place an order, or contact us (together, the "Services"). It applies to every page of pethium.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we'll post the revised version on the Site and update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll also notify customers on our email list.
How we collect your information
We collect your information in three places.
Directly from you. When you place an order, join our list, or write to us, we collect:
- Your name, email address, and phone number (if you provide it)
- Your shipping and billing addresses
- Your payment information — handled by our payment processors (we never see or store your card number)
- Your correspondence with us at hello@pethium.com
Cookies and automatic technologies. When you visit pethium.com, we collect:
- Standard analytics: device type, browser, pages viewed, referral source
- IP address (used for fraud prevention)
- Your cart contents and purchase history with us
We use Shopify's built-in analytics, Google Analytics 4, the Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors find and use the site.
Third parties. We receive information from:
- Shopify (our commerce platform)
- Payment processors (Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal)
- Shipping and logistics partners
- Email service provider (Klaviyo)
How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- Fulfill your order. Process payments, ship your medallion, send tracking, handle refunds, and provide customer support.
- Communicate with you. Send order updates, shipping notices, and — only with your consent — occasional emails about new products or anti-parasite tips.
- Improve the store. Understand how visitors use the site so we can make it clearer, faster, and more useful.
- Prevent fraud and protect security. Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or malicious activity.
- Provide customer support. Answer your messages at hello@pethium.com — a real person reads every email.
We do not sell your personal information. We don't share it with any data brokers. We don't use it for any purpose other than those listed above.

We only share your information with the partners required to run our business.

Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Run the store (remember your cart and preferences)
- Understand which pages and ads deliver real value
- Manage our marketing without showing you the same ad 50 times
Our cookies fall into three categories, which you control via the cookie banner on your first visit:

Most browsers also let you refuse all cookies. If you do, some parts of pethium.com may not work as intended.
Data retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including legal, tax, accounting, and support requirements. Specifically:
- Order data: kept 7 years (US tax record requirements)
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short archival period
- Abandoned carts / browsing: 180 days
If you'd like us to delete your data sooner — and you have no active order or legal retention obligation — email hello@pethium.com with the subject "Deletion Request" and we'll process it within 30 days.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your information (subject to legal retention obligations)
- Object to certain processing
- Opt out of marketing at any time — every email contains an unsubscribe link, honored immediately
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, correct inaccuracies, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by the CPRA.
Other US states: residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others) have similar access, correction, deletion, and opt-out rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pethium.com with the subject "Privacy Request". We respond within 30 days, often faster.
Children's privacy
Pethium is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected a child's information, contact us and we'll delete it.
International data transfers
Some of our providers (Shopify, Stripe, Klaviyo, Meta, Google) may process data outside your state or country. We rely on contractual safeguards and other legal mechanisms to protect your data in those transfers.
Security
We protect your information with recognized practices:
- TLS encryption on every page of pethium.com
- Card data handled by PCI-DSS-compliant processors — we never see or store card numbers
- Access to customer data limited to the few people who need it
- Regular security audits via the Shopify platform
No online transmission method is 100% secure. In the event of a privacy incident presenting a risk of serious harm, we will notify affected individuals promptly, as required by applicable law.
